A Vision Of Revival
Our journey began over five years ago with a dream to revitalize Nardin Park. The mission was simple yet profound; restore a once-vibrant neighborhood by prioritizing affordable housing, and empowering community ownership. After completing our first project—a four-unit affordable housing complex—our dedication was recognized, but resources remained scarce. We were however determined to make a difference and so, we invested our personal funds, securing affordable housing for families in need.
Our story isn’t just about buildings; it’s about lives. The residents’ dreams mirror our own. Through conversations with local community members, we learned that they aspired for a neighborhood where home ownership, rising property values, and new families would bring renewed energy. Today, we can proudly say that Nardin Pak has been transformed from the inside out, creating spaces that reflect shared values and aspirations even for the future generations.
Challenges and Obstacles: Navigating the Path to Revitalization
Transforming perceptions of the Nardin Park community has been one of our greatest challenges. Convincing others to recognize this neighborhood as a deserving hub of positive change and investment has required immense effort. Coupled with the intricate political landscape, shifting these long-held views has made it tough to build the momentum we need for progress.
Additionally, sourcing skilled labor has posed a significant obstacle. With Detroit’s rich manufacturing history, the past 60 years have seen little construction activity, making it difficult to find the expertise necessary for housing rehabilitation. While downtown Detroit has undergone a remarkable revitalization, led by Dan Gilbert’s initiatives, neighborhoods like Nardin Park have been overlooked. Our mission is to ensure these vital areas receive the attention and investment they deserve, even as we navigate the steep road to recovery.

We’ll track the number of nonprofits exceeding fundraising targets, aiming for at least a 30% increase in the first year. Partnering with organizations like FedEx, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, along with others dedicated to community empowerment further amplifies this impact, creating a network of support for nonprofits to thrive.
